Leading SEND & Inclusion in a mainstream setting Conferences

A unique networking and collaborative learning and development opportunity…

These events are an opportunity for leaders at schools, colleges and settings across the country to come together for a day of sharing and development.

In addition to workshops and presentations led by colleagues including Diane Rochford OBE, Vijita Patel (Principal, Swiss Cottage School), James Waller (Principal, Sunningdale School), Cheryl Gaughan (JMAT Schools), Martin Stanley (Tollgate Primary School), Sophie Addison (MNSP Schools) and Alistair Crawford (St Martins & St Andrews Schools) there will be comprehensive case studies and lightning talks from schools within the community, plus workshop time and structured roundtable discussions.

Each day will be a great opportunity to share and discuss interpretations and approaches to SEND and inclusion with other school and trust/local authority leaders and practitioners.

Join us for our FIRST event…

We’re thrilled to invite you and your colleagues to attend the following event:

Date: 12th Dec 2024

Time: 9am to 3pm

Location: Swiss Cottage School, 80 Avenue Road, London, NW8 6HX

Full day event. Lunch and refreshments provided.

As the complexity threshold of need grows and capacity and funding in the system continue to get ever tighter our school leaders in mainstream settings are facing more barriers and challenges than ever before to provide inclusive and aspirational provision for the most vulnerable learners.

Topics / themes include:

– ‘Doing more with less’: Deploying resources for maximum impact
– Additional Resource Provisions/Bases: challenges, ideas and opportunities
– Ambition and Aspiration:Outcomes and success for our most vulnerable learners
– Working with families:Harnessing lived experience to improve our provision
– The big picture: Policy updates from the DfE, Ofsted and other national organisations.

* All sessions include case studies from across the community of practice *

How do we place learner need at the heart of curriculum design and how do you articulate & define learner pathways in your setting?

How do you evidence the often unique learning journeys made by your students?

How do you create a culture of Inquiry to respond to the shift in complexity threshold and rapidly changing needs of learners in your setting?

What approaches can best support improved attendance and engagement for learners, particularly those who are neurodiverse?

What do we mean by Preparing for Adulthood from the earliest years?

What does successful transition look like from school to college then college to adult services / employment?

The day will feature:

– Keynote sessions and workshops
Case studies from schools
– Most importantly roundtable discussions providing opportunities to connect, share and learn with colleagues from across the community.
– Networking opportunities over lunch and refreshments.

* The day will be a great opportunity to share and discuss interpretations and approaches to SEND and inclusion with other school leaders. *

Speakers / Facilitators include:

Diane Rochford OBE, James Waller, Cheryl Gaughan, Sophie Addison, Martin Stanley, Alistair Crawford, Alex Revens, as well as contributions from Headteachers and Regional SEND leaders.

The main focus of our events is on connectivity and collaboration as we believe in the collective power of our community and school based leaders and practitioners over soundbites and one off contributions from ‘experts’. Focussed networking opportunities punctuate the day and we encourage colleagues to share and celebrate practice from your setting and make positive connections and seek shared solutions to the challenges we all face.

Regional Opportunities: Yorkshire, North West, Midlands – dates and venues to be announced soon
